Find your panda repos, their web and app links, where you cloned them, and how sharing and visibility work.

Row Meaning
web The repository's address, and its visibility. This is the link to share.
app The company's GitPanda page inside OkayPanda.
local Every folder on this computer where you've cloned it, or the command to clone it.
you The account it uses, your role in the company, and the key's scopes.
default The company used when you run team commands outside a clone.
you're here The repository of the folder you're in.

The same list is in the app: GitPanda โ†’ โŒจ Command line โ†’ Your repositories, with a "Copy clone" button for each.

Cloning#

gitpanda clone acme # into ./acme
gitpanda clone acme ~/work/acme # somewhere else

The folder must be empty or not exist. Cloning downloads every file the repository has, which you can see with a progress count, then shows where to go next.

Choosing the default#

gitpanda use acme-labs

Inside a clone, gitpanda always uses that clone's own company. The default matters only outside a clone: for ask, goal, approvals and other team commands.

Where am I?#

gitpanda info
  ๐Ÿผ Acme acme

    web https://okaypanda.com/git/acme
    folder ~/code/acme
branch main โœ“ nothing to push
    pulled 2 hours ago
    as you@company.com

tool gitpanda v2.3.0 โœ“ up to date
    path ~/.local/bin/gitpanda

Other ways to see the address:

gitpanda remote -v # git-style
gitpanda open # open it in your browser

On the web#

Every repository has a page at its web address, where anyone who's allowed can browse files, read documents, see the history and download a .zip. A public repository's page works without signing in, so you can link to it from anywhere.

Inside the app, GitPanda shows the same repository plus:

  • โŒจ Command line: install steps, your repositories, signed-in terminals and keys, and a quick how-to.
  • ๐Ÿ“– Guide: the user's guide.
  • Settings (owners and admins): the address, visibility, and who it's shared with.

Sharing#

Owners and admins can share a repository with people outside the company:

  1. GitPanda โ†’ Settings โ†’ Also shared with.
  2. Enter their email and click Share.

They sign in to OkayPanda with that email to read it, on the web and with gitpanda. Remove them any time from the same place.

Renaming#

Owners and admins change the repository's address in GitPanda โ†’ Settings โ†’ Address. After a rename:

  • links to the old address stop working, so update anything that points to them;
  • terminals signed in under the old name need gitpanda login again;
  • existing clones still have the old name, so clone again (gitpanda clone <new-name>) and move any unpushed work across.
