GitPanda v3.1.1 Install
Get started

Quick start

Install gitpanda, sign in, clone your company and push your first change, in about two minutes.

You'll need Node 18 or newer (node --version) and an OkayPanda account with a company.

1. Install#

curl -fsSL https://gitpanda.ai/install.sh | sh

This puts gitpanda in ~/.local/bin and tells you if that folder isn't on your PATH yet. Other ways to install are on the Install page.

2. Sign in#

gitpanda login

Your terminal shows a one-time code. Press Enter and your browser opens OkayPanda: check the code matches, tick the companies you want, and click Approve. The terminal finishes on its own.

3. Clone your company#

gitpanda repos # your panda repos and their names
gitpanda clone acme # use your repo's name
cd acme

You now have every room's README, documents, files and images as plain files.

4. Make a change#

Open a document in any editor, for example marketing/docs/launch-plan.md, and change something. Then:

gitpanda status
gitpanda save "Lead with the price"

save stages your changes, commits them, gets anything new from your team and pushes. In OkayPanda, the document now has a new version, and your message is in the company's history. (gitpanda get pulls your team's latest.)

Or skip the editor and just say it:

gitpanda "make the launch plan lead with the price"

5. Put your team to work#

gitpanda request marketing/docs/launch-plan.md "Add this quarter's numbers"
gitpanda check

request has the room that owns the document make the change; check finds documents that contradict each other. See A team inside your repository.

gitpanda ask marketing "What's on your plate this week?"
gitpanda goal "Draft three subject lines for the spring sale" --room marketing --watch

--watch streams the work live: what the employee is thinking, what it does, and whether it passed review.

6. Optional: the panda in your prompt#

gitpanda shell --install

Open a new terminal and cd into your clone. Your prompt shows where you are and what's waiting:

🐼 acme:main ●1

Where next#
